Farmville Safari – Baha’i Temple

Ahoy, adventurers!  Today I delved a little deeper into one building from the limited edition Far East set released in Farmville in April 2010.  One of the buildings had a few names — "Mediation Center", "Baha'i Temple", and "Lotus Building".  It does look something like a lotus and a temple but it's certainly odd for those of us less familiar with the Baha'i faith!

Baha'i Temple

It turns out that the Farmville version is fairly true to Baha'i tradition – being a nine sided, domed building.  Why must Baha'i temples have nine sides?  Nine is the highest digit and symbolizes comprehensiveness and culmination.  Also, nine is the numerical value of Baha, the revealer of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'u'llah. Of course some creative license was taken by the Farmville Architects, making the dome look more like a blossom than a building, but getting the specifications of a nine sided domed building into our farms was fairly impressive!

For our Safari Adventure today, I'll be taking you to a Baha'i Temple a bit closer to (my) home than the Far East: Chicago Illinois, USA.  The gardens and fountains were mighty impressive, and after learning a bit in their "Learning Center" I realized they were made such for mediation and reflection.

The variety of flowers in the garden is often compared to the variety of people in the world in Baha'i teachings.  Harmony between different cultures and different nations and different religions is a mainstay of the teachings of the Baha'i.  What could be a greater message for such a vast and varied group as the Farmville Nation, a group of people brought together without division of country nor language nor any other characteristic, for a simple love of pretend farming and community gaming?

Thanks for joining me on this particularly peaceful Safari, FVNationals!

Signing off,

Indiana Jenz!

An Orchard for You! 7/17/2011

Reports are flying in of people getting a free orchard when they boot up their farm today!  Hey, free is good, but not having to build it would be better… I suppose they are doing this to get non-tree-breeders into the whole buying trees for farmcash pattern… but maybe it's just a gesture of good will?  Maybe?  Anyway, I'll use it, how about you?

Ooooh goody, an orchard!

More proof Zynga is in the dark on Farmville

I've had about 20 messages asking me questions like "what is a Rainbow Cherry tree?" and "Why does Farmville hate me?"

You Can't have the Rainbow Cherry tree!

Well I can answer both of these tonight.

1) As of now, the "Rainbow Cherry Tree" isn't real, and is just another mistake by Zynga.  They are pretty good at Failing.

2) The majority of questions about Farmville Hate, is because of the Turbo change, eating a number of limited edition crops people had been saving since Super Pumpkins (and one person said they had an Original Superberries plot that was destroyed).  Well I wish I had some words that would make your efforts come back.  A number of people showed extreme sadness, there was one player, who sent me a photo from the other day, and a photo from last night.  And they went from having *every* limited, cash, whatever Crop,  to having a farm full of Snowcones.

Only suggestion I can offer is to keep going to Live Chat/Email Customer Support, and demand they make this right.  I heard a few success stories, of the Customer Support rep being able to replant a number of the lost crops.
